All four of my pattern sets are up at MTS! I didn't think sets three or four would be up yet, but the mods are really on the ball today.

I don't know if it's really even necessary to post it here; I tend to assume that every avid Simmer just happens to check MTS ever day. But I want to, dammit! I am proud of me!

Notes:
  • I haven't played in a few days 'cause I been makin' patterns. I think I'm getting pretty decent at it! I finished four sets and submitted the first two to MTS yesterday, so they should be up in a couple of days. If you'd like a sneak peak here's the first set [pic 1/pic 2] and the second set [pic 1/pic 2].

  • Chapters 5, 6, and 7 ran out of bandwidth a few days ago. I had my fingers crossed that Photobucket would be nice and reset the bandwidth on July 1st, but, alas, no dice. So I manually went and put them all back up. Sorry to those who I made wait!

  • I shortened the title. Isn't it so fucking hip? Doesn't it make you feel young just looking at it?? /cleverfail

Previously on Life in SV: Dwight became a child, Jermaine remained a child, Bret became a fish-faced teenager, and Saye became a pop icon. That's... pretty much it. *shrug*

Warnings: Language and saggy old man titties.

Signing up for a new Photobucket account, the security image is "BURNS her." Something fails so I do it again and it's "get divorced." WTF?! Photobucket, you're an asshole.

Previously on Life in SV: Stiles became an elder, topped his career track as a hit movie composer, and met a drama llama of ghost. Saye reached level eight of her career as a lead guitarist, Jermaine became a child, and the whole family discovered the joys of the cemetery.

Warnings: Probably just language. Maybe other things.

This unemployment thing... I just have way too much time on my hands.

Previously on Life in SV: Saye and Stiles were elbow deep in poopies. Dwight and Jermaine are still toddlers, but Bret is a kid now. Hurrah! Also, my self-Sim moved in across the street.

Warnings: Probably just language. Maybe other things.

1) Last week was my last week of work. Summer freedom!!
2) I've been making patterns. They suck though.
3) This week I had jury duty, but they dismissed me after four hours of pure torture yesterday. More freedom!
4) When I got home from jury duty and sat down to do this update, I discovered my computer had contracted the System Security virus. It is a whore. I don't know where I got it; I've only been downloading from MTS, TSR, and MATY lately. Dun dun DUN.

Whatever.

Previously on Life in SV: Saye and Stiles forgot about their own hopes, dreams, and sense of self as that terminal STD known as "parenthood" fell upon them. Also, Saye started a garden.

Warnings: Probably just language. Maybe other things.

And that's as far as I've played. Until now 'cause I'm about to play more.

TS3 CC is barely getting underway and I'm already going overboard... I downloaded a bunch of patterns from TSR and one promptly borked my game so I had to use to 50/50 method to locate it. Also, a bunch of patterns I downloaded are in the "Misc" category when something named "leather" should probably be in the, oh let's say, the leather category. A bunch of them aren't tiled too, but you can't tell because TSR's "fancy" little Workshop auto-uploader does not give a tiled preview. Also, if you run these files through the Compressorizer they pop. The ones using Delphy's pattern packager compress fine, but TSR's can't handle the pressure, hurrr.

I did get some really cute patterns though. Two strawberry patterns! Woo! Strawberries are an obsession of mine.

Anyway, poor Saye and Stiles have been victims of my experimenting lately. I'll probably update their legacy tonight or tomorrow, but for most of today I've been downloading and *gasp* creating patterns. Still working on the finer points.

But now the for real anyway... I made a plumbbob! See, I end every school year with my math students by making them build a three dimensional solid out of cardboard, decorate it for several days, and then calculate the surface area and volume. I like to build one too, so this year I made a plumbbob.

Wanna see? )

It's made of twelve isoceles triangles, each with a base or 5.5 inches and a height of 10 inches. The height of each hexagonal pyramid is 9.75 inches. Calculate the surface area and volume! GO!

Why is it than when I look for the download instructions for HP's new "no music effects" mod I get instructions for installing panties??

Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Purchase Panties

2. Extract from Package

3. Put around ankles and raise to waist

4. Check yourself out in a mirror and send pics to Delphy

Nononoooo!

P.S. Yay for no more music notes in my millions of pics of Saye and Stiles playing guitar!

This is last night and tonight. Between trying to get the last four chapters back up and an all new John & Kate Plus 8 (where they actually almost spoke to each other) this one's on the short side (60-something images? Is that short?) but there's video too! Oooo, look at me and my fancy YouTubin'.

Previously on Life in SV: Sims 3 labor is lulzy, couch make-outs are cute, Stiles is a cleaning machine, and Saye is puking again.

Warnings: Probably just language. Maybe other things.

Argh!! Why does making custom patterns have to be so hard?? I have literally hundreds of awesome patterns I'd love to convert for the game but it's So. Fucking. Hard.

I'm giving myself one more hour to figure it out, then I'm going back to playing with Saye and Stiles.

Until then, I can only find comfort in RPattz.

ETA: Bandwidth exceeded?? In one week? Crazy business. I guess I will look into, uh... something else? Multiple Photobucket accounts? I dunno. What do other people typically do to avoid this problem? Looking at other legacies and everyone seems to either use Photobucket of LJ pics, and I can't afford no LJ stuff.

ETA2: Fixed it all when I got home from work today. Please let me know if anything appears to be amiss.

Guess how I'm spending my lazy Sunday. Husband is next to me in similar garb playing COD5. It's very romantic, I assure you.

Previously on Life in SV: Saye got married to Stiles McGraw. No bastard children here! Woo hoo!(?)

Warnings: Probably just language. Maybe other things.

ETA 08 June 2009: I had to change hosting for the images; please let me know if anything appears to be amiss.

Today is the first time I've gotten to sit down and play since I posted the second chapter. Every day, as soon as I've sat down, someone has insisted I go and pretend to be social. Today I said enough! Pajama pants and video games all day FTW! Also notable: The Hangovers awesomeness is awesome. If you are a grown-up go see it. (If you are not a grown-up, I do not feel comfortable recommending this movie, but put it on your to-do list for the future fo' sho'.)

Previously on Life in SV: Saye's got a boyfriend, Saye's got a boyfriend! Saye and Stiles sittin' in a tree... etc, etc.

Warnings: Probably just language. Maybe other things.

And now we're finally caught up to what I played today, which means it'll be easier to remember what the purpose was of me taking each picture, which means the chapter will be less lame. 'Cause I have to admit that this one's pretty lame.

I'm trying to keep these brief and frequent, but I think I'll make this one pretty long with the game officially releasing tomorrow. I'm excited! I want CC like NAO!!

Previously on Life in SV: Nothing really happened. But I enjoyed it so stfu.

Warnings: Language. Possible penis jokes--I don't know, we'll have to see where this train takes us. Some Barbie nudity too (censor patch, woo!). Goth spoilers if you're into that.

I really, really wasn't intending to buy The Sims 3. I like The Sims 2 and enjoy my mountain of custom content. I stopped giving EA my money when they started giving me malware.

Now I didn't like it much for the first three minutes. The sliders, the voice customization, the coloring, the moodlets, the lifetime rewards... Flaws there may be, but the gameplay is pretty damn sweet. Now I'm kind of torn... I want a legit copy, but I sure as hell don't want SecuROM on my machine. Ugh. EA, why do you do this to me?

Whatever. I'm posting my gameplay experience in legacy-ish form. Excuse the lame title; I am unclever.

Warnings: So far, just some language.

Can I just come out and admit I'm totally gay for Pegy's June "gift"? I got a little giddy for it. Thank the Lawd for The Booty or I'd be staring at it with rage in my eyes, for I would not be able to have it.

June 13th is my last day of work before Summer break. I love being a teacher. What are my Summer plans, you ask? Alternating between The Sims 2, Wii Fit, and Rock Band. Go out and socialize? Ha!

...Okay, I'll probably do some of that too. Two of my besties will be visiting me at the end of June, as they both moved out-of-state in the past year. Damn them.

But the real news! I'm working on a Sim-illustrated comic. Like, I already have the first two chapters done. Sound lame? Well fuck you too, it's not any lamer than your face!

Also, I'm glad I made SimSecret, even though I haven't contributed to it in months. It is a grand source of amusement.

Thirteen more days! *dance*

I cleaned my Downloads folder yesterday. Keeping my CC sorted into folders was more trouble than it's worth, so I just dumed them all into the regular ol' "Downloads" folder and ran the Compressorizor through the whole thing. Went from 8.32CB to 5.17GB in just about two hours. Pretty sweet.

Then I went through and deleted some ugly hairs, of course downloading more all the while, which came out to 5.01GB of CC. I think that's reasonable. Gotta put that 4GB of RAM to some use. Still need to upgrade my video card though--this one actually needs to be sent in because the warranty isn't up and it's dying on me.

But things seem to be running well. My giant super-decorated OMG-what-was-I-thinking-building-this seems less explody.

I need to update my mems. Gets me some more memory.

...That's what my husband says, anyway. The game only took 19 minutes to boot after installing EP6 though! I think that's pretty good, considering.

Also, if any of my friends is unawares, I have a new legacy: [info]muffin_legacy

First three parts are posted.

Now that work is settling down and I've got Seasons working properly (though Nightlife is now borked), I've had time to work on my story again. I built a new set today!

Here is the church, here is the steeple, open the doors... )

Installing Seasons caused my school set to implode though, so I guess I'll have to re-build that whole thing.

On February 20th I reported my download folder to be 12.8GB, making my game take 29 minutes to load. I deleted a lof of stuff... but I also downloaded a lot of stuff, so it's now 12.4GB.

That's 40,732 files. I just downloaded Delphy's new Download Organizer, so lets see how this goes...

Starting scan at 9:00pm. ...Aaaaaaand done at 9:10pm. That rules!

Continued piddling found 52 duplicates. That took, uh... four seconds?

Scanning for orphans... This one took about as long as the initial scan, but I think I have a lot. I did an orphan scan once before on SimPE, but it took hours.

...2,445 orphans. Ouch. Got a few errors, but all my orphans are dead now. Hurrah!

I, uh, installed a few more things and now have 38,888 packages at 11.8GB. I guess that's kind of better.
